They were two different men, two different characters, and two different paths. But they were united in one thing — ardent faith, firm determination, and the fact that they strived for Christ with all their effort.

After meeting the Saviour of the world, both these men left behind their former lives and served God and their neighbours until their last breath. Step by step, word by word they changed this world and brought to it light and hope. Stone by stone, Peter and Paul helped Christ to erect His Church, in which we are fortunate to be and reach for salvation now.

All of us are very different as well. Everyone is rich in his own set of talents. Everyone has his own flaws. But we all are also called to leave behind our former false concepts and empty attractions for the sake of a new, better life: life with God and according to His Gospel, to conscience, and, most importantly, to love.

Yes, we all can make mistakes and take pride in our alleged righteousness, like Saul, who later became the Holy Apostle Paul. Today also, some may persecute the Holy Church of God while sincerely believing that they are doing a 'good' thing. The Holy Scripture tells us that every man has a hope for metanoia, for repentance, and for salvation as long as he thinks and breathes.
We may be in the Church, among our brethren, like the Holy Apostle Peter once was. We may rejoice in God's wonders and wisdom, be ready to die for Christ and our neighbours at any moment … and then cowardly betray everything that was precious and everyone whom we loved even before the third rooster cries. We are people. We all tend to fall and make mistakes. The main thing is to find the strength and determination to get up over and over again and keep walking where He wants to lead us.

There are no hopeless situations in the life of both an individual and an entire people. God can raise up him who has fallen, like He once raised up His Holy Leaders of the Apostles, Peter and Paul. He can create a beautiful world, in which there is a place for everybody, with His one Word. And we will enter this world if only we have faith and strong desire to live what He once made us for: for co-creation, peace, kindness, and love, not for enmity, hatred, fratricide, and the insanity of self-destruction.
Happy Feast of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, dear friends!

They succeeded. Strengthen us, o Lord, on our life path too!
