Today the Holy Orthodox Church celebrates the Feast of the Holy Transfiguration of Our Lord, God and Saviour Jesus Christ.
This is one of the main Christian feasts. The most important truth about human life is revealed in it: we are not only flesh and blood, but there is a spark of unearthly Light in each of us.
The Transfiguration, or metamorphosis in Greek, literally means “change of form”, “transformation from one species or shape to another”.
We are all going through terrible times today. War is always about hatred and malice. It is a tragedy of complete clouding and obscuring of human hearts and minds.
And if we all want to live in peace and harmony again, we must learn to cultivate in ourselves the qualities of the soul that are completely opposite to hatred and malice.
We are called by God to our own transfiguration, to returning to grace-filled eternal life with our Heavenly Father and with each other, to kindling the light of peace and love in our hearts, which no darkness can take up, as only this light can change everything.
Let us look for this Tabor Light in our souls and believe that it shines in every person!
Happy Feast of the Holy Transfiguration of the Lord, dear sisters and brothers!
