Dear brothers and sisters, I cordially greet you on the great Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord God and Saviour Jesus Christ!
God works His wonders unobtrusively, and all of them are aimed at the main goal — to deliver man, made by God, from the power of deadly sin.
The Transfiguration of the Saviour happened far away from the centres of civilisation, on the top of the uninhabited and still unknown mount of Tabor.
At the same time, the wonderful miracle was shown only to those whom He himself had chosen: Peter — as a fervent confessor of faith, James — as an Apostle strong in hope, and John — a messenger of love.
Christ showed to the disciples His Divine glory and the Kingdom of Heaven with power so that later, seeing Him on the Cross, the Apostles would not forget the light of His Transfiguration and not fall into the darkness of despair.
The Earth did not stop its rotation when this miracle happened. The world did not change. For the outer world is merely a reflection of the inner world of mankind, and the outer side changes only together with inner one. Only if we change.
And even if it may seem today that darkness has not been defeated yet, that evil triumphs over us with impunity — it is not so.
‘… The light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not’ (John 1:5).
The light of Tabor gives souls and hearts the fullness of being — the great joy and consolation to be partakers of the other, God’s world. All who seek salvation are given the grace of faith, hope, and love, the joy of life according to God’s laws, and the strength to change themselves and, hence, this entire world for the better.
May the Lord strengthen us all on this path of spiritual growth and transfiguration!
Happy feast, dear brothers and sisters!
