On the grounds of a high-profile investigation into the creation of criminal schemes around the state concern Ukroboronprom, involving the closest circle of President Petro Poroshenko, it is necessary to conduct a thorough investigation and bring those responsible to justice. Tomorrow's plenary day should begin precisely with the consideration of this issue by the Verkhovna Rada in order to soon look into the facts that were published by Ukrainian journalists.

Why do we consider the creation of the investigative commission to be so important? Since for quite a long time we have not had any trust to the Prosecutor General's Office, to the Specialized Anticorruption Prosecution, to the National Anticorruption Bureau or the State Bureau of Investigations controlled by the Presidential Administration. These law enforcement agencies repeatedly demonstrated that all the corruption cases against government officials or the President’s circle were soft-pedalled. That is why the creation of a temporary investigative commission to address this issue is the first and most important step.

The development of events shows that the authorities will resist attempts to establish the truth and will try to avoid responsibility, with all their might. The fact that officials of the Verkhovna Rada’s Secretariat cancelled the MPs' signature lists for impeachment of the President testifies to that. Although the idea of impeachment for President Petro Poroshenko is already devoid of meaning in itself.

Firstly, the impeachment procedure is quite complicated and cumbersome. Hope that 2/3 of the necessary votes will be cast to start the impeachment procedure in the parliament is elusive.

Secondly, one month is left before the elections. Thus, it is enough for Ukrainians to come to the polling stations on 31 March and choose a new president for the country, which will, in fact, mean people's impeachment to President Poroshenko. Our faction of the Opposition Bloc initiates such a “people's impeachment” to Petro Poroshenko. We call on all other factions of the Verkhovna Rada, all extra-parliamentary parties, civil society organizations and all other unindifferent citizens to support our initiative.
