Vadym Novynskyi has commented on an online petition filed on the President of Ukraine’s website, which requested that the Head of State check the legality of granting him Ukrainian citizenship:

“There is not a grain of truth in the so-called ‘petition’. It is a lie from the beginning to the end. It is a pity that such a tool, which is expected to draw the President’s attention to truly important issues, has turned into a farce and become an instrument in Ukraine’s political and economic struggle. This indicates the weakness of online resources. However, I have got used to being discredited over the past two years and take it calmly.

Different competent authorities have already made a lot of enquiries into the legality of granting me Ukrainian citizenship. One more or one less – it does not matter. Everyone understands that opposing the current government means being scrutinised by all our law enforcement agencies. Your past and present activities are put under a microscope – if the government had had the slightest reason to charge me with illegal conduct, I am sure that they would have done so by now.”
